Hiro Nakajima got his first start at second base for Sacramento on Monday and ended up driving in the tying and winnings runs for the River Cats. Designated hitter Grant Green doubled and drove in Sacramento’s only other run of the night. Starter Travis Banwart allowed 2 runs in 4 innings of work, while RHP Paul Smyth, in his first appearance since being called up from Midland, struck out 4 in 2 scoreless innings of relief. RHP Brian Gordon followed with 2 more scoreless innings to pick up the win, and RHP Dan Otero got the final 3 outs for his 11th save.

Starter Justin Thomas allowed 6 runs on 8 hits over 5 innings and left with his team down 6-1, but RHP Brian Gordon held Fresno scoreless for 3 innings and the River Cats battled back to tie the game in the 9th and send the game to extra innings. Second baseman Grant Green hit a key 2-run homer in the top of the 9th to drive in the tying run. Green then tripled in the top of the 11th for his 4th hit of the night and came around to score the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly by outfielder Shane Peterson. But RHP James Simmons surrendered 2 runs in the bottom of the 11th to take his 2nd loss.

RHP Carlos Fisher came on to allow 4 runs though and took the loss. Outfielder D’Arby Myers had 2 doubles and drove in a pair of runs for the RockHounds.

RHP Ryan Dull tossed 2 2/3 perfect innings of relief to pick up his 3rd save. Outfielder John Wooten hit his 4th home run, and first baseman Matt Olson homered for the 2nd straight night for the Snappers.

With Jesse Chavez’s recall by the A’s, RHP Travis Banwart got the surprise start on Saturday, his first of the season for the River Cats, and he ended up holding Reno to just 1 run over 3 2/3 innings of work. LHP Pedro Figueroa followed up by giving up 2 runs over 2 1/3 innings, but still picked up the win, while RHP Dan Otero got the final 3 outs for his 3rd save. Catcher Stephen Vogt hit his 5th home run, and first baseman Daric Barton and outfielder Michael Choice both doubled and drove in a run for the River Cats.

Hot-hitting first baseman Max Muncy, serving as the designated hitter for the night, his his 8th home run to put the Ports on the board in the 4th inning and drove in the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly in the 5th.

Starter Seth Streich allowed 3 runs over 4 1/3 innings for the Snappers, but RHP Drew Tyson came on to toss 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn the win in his first appearance of the season.

Designated hitter Aaron Shipman tripled in 2 runs in the top of the 5th inning to give Beloit the lead, which they never relinquished, and first baseman Matt Olson and third baseman Jacob Tanis each drove in a pair of runs for the Snappers.

Catcher Stephen Vogt led the attack with 5 hits, including 2 home runs and a triple, and 6 RBIs, and outfielder Michael Choice also had a pair of home runs to go along with a pair of doubles. Outfielder Conner Crumbliss contributed his 2nd home run, and third baseman Scott Moore, first Daric Barton and designated hitter Jemile Weeks collected 3 hits apiece. Starter Andrew Werner allowed 6 runs on 13 hits over 6 innings, but still walked away with his 1st win on Sunday.

RHP Murphy Smith had his shakiest start of the season for the RockHounds on Sunday, allowing 8 runs, 5 earned, over 5 1/3 innings to take the loss. Outfielder D’Arby Myers homered and drove in 4 runs, designated hitter Miles Head had 3 hits, and outfielder Chad Oberacker, first baseman Anthony Aliotti and shortstop Dusty Coleman collected a pair of hits apiece in the loss. With infielder Tyler Ladendorf and RHP Darren Byrd being promoted to Sacramento, catcher Beau Taylor was activated and infielder Michael Fabiaschi was promoted from Stockton.
