In Other News…

First baseman Matt Olson has not appeared in an AFL contest since exiting a game on October 28 with a shoulder injury after a collision at first base. Over the past month, the A’s have acquired four arms (LHP Brad Mills and RHPs Jorge De Leon, Kevin Whelan and Taylor Thompson) along with one outfielder (Andrew Brown), all of whom are expected to provide depth for the team at Triple-A Nashville next season. Meanwhile, last season’s River Cats saves leader, RHP Jeremy McBryde, signed a major league contract with the Angels after becoming a minor league free agent this week. And A’s assistant general manager Farhan Zaidi was named the Dodgers’ new general manager on Thursday. We spoke often with Farhan about the A’s farm system and wish him well in his new position. You can check out our last interview with him here.

Below you’ll find a list of all the A’s minor league players who declared free agency this week. These players are now free to sign with any organization, or to re-sign with the A’s organization if they choose to.

Catchers: Luke Montz, Luis Martinez

Infielders: Jose Martinez, Dusty Coleman, Jefry Marte, Darwin Perez, Luis Baez

Outfielders: Nick Buss, Jeremy Barfield, Kenny Wilson, D’Arby Myers

Pitchers: Matt Buschmann, Joe Savery, Philip Humber, Jeremy McBryde, Jose Flores, Deryk Hooker, Marcus Walden, Tim Sexton, Shawn Haviland, Frank Gailey, Omar Duran, Tim Alderson, Manny Correa, Fernand Cruzado
