Stockton broke out the bats to notch a one-run win and secure its second straight victory over San Jose on Thursday. Designated hitter Cameron Masterman, who was signed by the A’s as an undrafted amateur out of Louisville late last month, had a big night at the plate, collecting 4 hits, including a home run and a pair of doubles, to help propel the Ports to victory. This year, the 23-year-old outfielder slashed .305/.399/.597 while slugging 18 home runs in 233 at-bats in his senior season with the Cardinals. Third baseman T.J. Schofield-Sam also turned in an impressive performance, punching a pair of two-run homers for the Ports. Catcher CJ Rodriguez singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a run, while center fielder Caeden Trenkle, this year’s 9th-round draft pick for the A’s, singled, homered and drove in 3 runs for Stockton. Starter Yehizon Sanchez allowed 8 runs, just 3 earned, over 3 innings of work, while RHP Luke Anderson threw 3 scoreless frames to earn the win, and RHP Aaron Cohn got the final two outs in the 9th to notch his 2nd save for Stockton.
