A’s Prospect AFL Highlights
(September 18 – 22)
Wednesday, September 18th:
Right fielder Greg Deichmann went 1 for 3 with a walk and stole a base, while first baseman Alfonso Rivas went 1 for 4 with a double and scored a run. LHP Jhenderson Hurtado struck out 3 over 2 scoreless innings, while RHP Brady Feigl tossed 1 scoreless frame, and RHP Jesus Zambrano allowed 2 runs in 2/3 of an inning as Mesa lost their season opener 5-4 on Wednesday.
Thursday, September 19th:
RHP Daniel Gossett made the start in his return from Tommy John surgery and allowed 2 runs in 2 innings of work to suffer the loss, while second baseman Nick Allen went 1 for 4, and center fielder Greg Deichmann went 0 for 3 and walked with the bases loaded to bring in Mesa’s sole run as the Solar Sox lost 4-1 on Thursday.
Friday, September 20th:
First baseman Alfonso Rivas went 1 for 2 with 2 walks, while designated hitter Nick Allen went 0 for 4 in Mesa’s 5-1 loss on Friday.
Saturday, September 21st:
RHP Jesus Zambrano threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, while left fielder Greg Deichmann went 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts as Mesa won 4-1 on Saturday.
Sunday, September 22nd:
Right fielder Greg Deichmann went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double and 4 RBIs, while first baseman Alfonso Rivas went 1 for 4 with a double, a walk and an RBI, and second baseman Nick Allen went 0 for 3 with 2 walks and an RBI. RHP Brady Feigl struck out 3 over 2 scoreless innings to earn the win as Mesa won 7-6 on Sunday.
