Tuesday, March 31st: Las Vegas Loses Gage Jump’s AAA Debut despite Zack Gelof’s Big Night

Las Vegas lost LHP Gage Jump’s Triple-A debut on Tuesday despite center fielder Zack Gelof’s big night at the plate. Jump wasn’t very efficient while struggling with his control. He threw 63 pitches, 38 for strikes, while hitting a batter, uncorking a pair of wild pitches, issuing a pair of walks and allowing a pair of hits and a run with 4 strikeouts in just 2 1/3 innings of work. RHP Tyler Ferguson was charged with 5 runs in 2/3 of an inning to take the loss, while LHP Brady Basso also allowed 5 runs in just 2/3 of an inning of work. Zack Gelof, making the start in center field, had another big game, walking, singling, doubling and slugging his 2nd home run of the season while driving in 3 runs. Gelof has now gone 6 for 14 with a pair of homers, 7 walks and just 2 strikeouts through his first 4 games. Left fielder Henry Bolte reached base 5 times, collecting 3 singles and drawing a pair of walks, while scoring twice. Right fielder Junior Perez walked, singled and slugged a three-run homer, while third baseman Brett Harris walked 4 times and scored a run for the Aviators. RHP Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang is set to make the start for Las Vegas on Wednesday.
