Aviators pitchers held Bees batters hitless through seven innings while the Las Vegas lineup put double digits on the board for the second straight night to claim victory over Salt Lake on Saturday. 23-year-old shortstop Euribiel Angeles singled, walked and slugged a grand slam with two outs in the 8th inning to put the game out of reach. Zack Gelof, getting the start in right field, also had a big night, collecting a single and 3 walks while also slugging a solo shot in the 1st inning to give Las Vegas an early lead. Second baseman Brett Harris singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in 4 runs, while center fielder Henry Bolte singled, walked twice, scored twice and swiped a pair of bases, and left fielder Junior Perez singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Aviators. Meanwhile, on the mound, RHPs Joey Estes, Brooks Kriske and Jack Perkins held Salt Lake hitless and scoreless through seven innings. Estes made the start and threw 4 1/3 frames, issuing 3 walks and collecting 3 strikeouts, before giving way to Kriske, who notched the final two outs of the frame to pick up the win. Despite being a bit wild, Perkins continued to hold the Bees hitless in the 6th and 7th. He then walked the bases loaded with no outs to lead off the 8th and ended up being charged with 3 runs and issuing a total of 5 walks while throwing 2 hitless innings. Perkins threw 41 pitches, just 15 for strikes. LHP Matt Krook gave up 2 hits and allowed 1 run in the 8th, and RHP Nick Anderson pitched a perfect 9th to complete the two-hitter for the Aviators. RHP Mason Barnett is set to make the start for Las Vegas on Sunday.
