RHP Kade Morris and left fielder Ryan Lasko led Las Vegas to victory in Game #1 of the Pacific Coast League Championship Series on Tuesday. The 23-year-old Morris turned in an outstanding start, allowing 1 run on just 4 hits through 7 innings of work to earn the victory for Las Vegas. In his last three regular-season starts, Morris gave up just 3 runs over 17 innings for the Aviators. The 23-year-old Lasko tagged a two-run homer in the 5th inning to break a scoreless tie and give Las Vegas the lead. He then tripled in a run and came in to score another run in the 7th. Catcher Daniel Susac returned from the injured list to go 3 for 4 with a double, drove in a run and scored twice, while first baseman Bryan Lavastida singled twice, stole a base and scored a run. Designated hitter Nick Martini doubled in a run, and center fielder Denzel Clarke went 0 for 3 in a rehab appearance with the Aviators. Game #2 of the best-of-three series is set to take place in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Midland suffered a one-run loss to Springfield on Tuesday to even the best-of-three Texas League Championship Series and send it to a deciding game on Wednesday. Left fielder Clark Elliott launched a three-run homer in the 4th inning to give Midland an early lead, but that would be all the runs the RockHounds would score. Shortstop Leo De Vries singled, walked and scored a run on Elliott’s round-tripper. Starter Gage Jump held Springfield scoreless through the first 4 frames but ended up allowing 2 runs and striking out 8 in 4 2/3 innings of work and left the game with a one-run lead. But RHP Stevie Emanuels was charged with 2 runs in the top of the 6th to take the loss. The deciding game in the series is set to take place in Midland on Wednesday.
