Top prospect Leo De Vries had another big day at the plate to help the RockHounds record the win in Game #1 of the Texas League Championship Series on Sunday. The 18-year-old Dominican shortstop slugged a solo shot in the 1st inning to give his team an early lead and then, with the RockHounds down by a single run in the 7th, he hammered a two-run homer to provide the margin of victory for Midland. De Vries also drew a walk and scored 3 runs in the game. Third baseman Joshua Kuroda-Grauer went 3 for 5 with a double and scored twice, while first baseman Tommy White doubled and was hit by a pitch, and designated hitter Brennan Milone singled and drew a pair of walks for the Hounds. Starter Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang allowed 3 runs through 4 frames, while RHP Mark Adamiak tossed a scoreless 6th to pick up the win. RHP Colin Peluse pitched 2 perfect innings in relief, and LHP Will Johnston notched the final three outs to secure the save for the RockHounds. Game #2 of the best-of-three series is set to take place in Midland on Tuesday.

Las Vegas suffered a loss to Salt Lake on Sunday. RHP Yunior Tur had a rough start, surrendering 6 runs, 4 of them on a grand slam, before exiting with just two outs in the 1st inning to take the loss. Shortstop Drew Swift homered, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a pair, while designated hitter Alejo Lopez singled, walked twice and scored a run. Left fielder Cooper Bowman and right fielder Junior Perez each singled and doubled for Las Vegas in the loss.
