Top prospect Leo De Vries had another big night at the plate, but the RockHounds still suffered a one-run loss to the Sod Poodles on Saturday. The 18-year-old shortstop went 3 for 5 with a home run and a pair of doubles while driving in 3 runs and scoring twice. De Vries has now gone 18 for 43 with 11 extra-base hits and 13 RBIs in 9 games for Midland in the month of September, and his .937 OPS is tops among all Hounds hitters with at least 75 at-bats this season. Designated hitter Clark Elliott also continued his hot hitting of late, drilling a double to go along with a two-run homer, while first baseman Brennan Milone singled, homered and drove in a pair, and center fielder Brayan Buelvas hit his 4th home run for the Hounds. LHP James Gonzalez had a shaky start, allowing 7 runs, 4 earned, through 4 frames to record the loss for the RockHounds.

RHP Blake Beers had a rough start, giving up 6 runs in just 1 2/3 innings of work to suffer the loss for Las Vegas on Saturday. Catcher Bryan Lavastida singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in the Aviators’ sole run in the loss.
