Midland suffered a one-run loss to Amarillo in extra innings on Thursday. 19-year-old Taiwanese LHP Wei-En Lin made the start and permitted just 1 run and struck out 6 through 3 1/3 innings of work, while RHP Corey Avant allowed 5 in 2 innings of relief in his Double-A debut. RHP Shohei Tomioka gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th to send the game to extra innings, and LHP Will Johnston allowed an RBI double to the only batter he faced in the 11th to suffer the loss. Left fielder Clark Elliott had a big night at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a home run and a double while also drawing 3 walks and scoring twice, and the 24-year-old outfielder has now gone 5 for 11 with 4 extra-base hits over his last 3 games for Midland. Third baseman Sahid Valenzuela singled twice, doubled twice and drove in a run, while second baseman Casey Yamauchi singled and slugged a three-run homer. First baseman Brennan Milone singled, homered and drove in a pair, and right fielder Jared Dickey and shortstop Joshua Kuroda-Grauer collected 3 hits apiece for the RockHounds.

Las Vegas suffered a walk-off loss to Reno on Thursday. 26-year-old Cuban RHP Yunior Tur made the start and gave up 3 runs through 4 frames and left the game with Las Vegas holding a two-run lead. LHP David Leal allowed 1 run in the 5th inning to make it a one-run game, but RHP Tyler Baum gave up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to take the loss as Reno won in a walk-off. Catcher Bryan Lavastida, who was signed as a free agent last month, went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer and is now batting .358 through 16 games since joining the Aviators. Right fielder Ryan Lasko singled twice and drove in a run, while second baseman Colby Halter tripled and scored a run for Las Vegas in the loss.
