RHP Cole Miller led Stockton to a shutout victory, with a helping hand from right fielder Bobby Blandford, as Stockton secured its third straight win over Lake Elsinore on Friday. The 20-year-old Miller, who was the A’s 4th-round pick in 2023, had his pro career delayed due to Tommy John surgery, but he’s come back strong this season. In Friday’s start for Stockton, he allowed just 1 hit while notching 4 strikeouts through 4 scoreless frames, and he left with the game a scoreless tie. Miller threw just 42 pitches, 30 for strikes, and he’s now compiled an ERA of 1.80 through 45 innings for Stockton this season. This year’s 14th-round pick, LHP Griffin Kirn, threw a scoreless frame in the 5th to pick up the win for the Ports. LHP Brayan Restituyo pitched 3 perfect innings in relief, and LHP Riley Huge tossed a scoreless 9th to complete the one-hit shutout and secure the save for Stockton. Right fielder Bobby Blandford, who was signed as an undrafted free agent last month, belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the 5th to provide all the scoring on the night for the Ports.
