Center fielder Junior Perez had a big night at the plate to help the RockHounds record their sixth straight win on Saturday. The 24-year-old Dominican outfielder tagged a two-run homer in the 2nd inning to give the Hounds an early lead and then tripled with the bases loaded in the top of the 10th to drive in 3 more runs and provide what would prove to be the margin of victory for Midland. Perez now leads the team with 14 home runs and 52 RBIs. Designated hitter Shane McGuire singled twice, drew a walk and drove in a run, while shortstop Drew Swift, catcher Cole Conn and right fielder Brennan Milone had a pair of hits apiece for the Hounds. RHP Blake Beers turned in another strong start, throwing 5 scoreless frames, and he left the game with a two-run lead. RHP Pedro Santos allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, in just 2/3 of an inning to surrender the lead, and RHP Tyler Baum tossed a scoreless frame in the bottom of the 9th to pick up the win for Midland.
