Designated hitter Shotaro Morii had a big game for the second straight night to help lead the ACL A’s to victory in Arizona on Friday. The 18-year-old Japanese infielder singled in the A’s first run in the 3rd inning and then came around to score the team’s second run before slugging a solo shot in the 6th inning. Morii, who’s shown a keen eye at the plate, also drew 3 walks in the game. He’s now gone 5 for his last 7 with a home run and a triple and is batting .333 in the month of June. Left fielder Cesar Franco singled, doubled, drew a pair of walks and drove in 3 runs, while first baseman German Ortiz went 2 for 5, walked and scored a run. Third baseman Jesus Superlano singled twice and stole a base, and center fielder Joseph Rodriguez went 2 for 3 and scored a run. Starter Drew Conover allowed just 1 run through 5 frames to earn the win for the A’s.
