First baseman T.J. Schofield-Sam had a big night at the plate to help lead Lansing to its sixth win in its last seven games on Saturday. The 23-year-old infielder went 3 for 4 with 3 extra-base hits to run his current hitting streak to 9 games. He doubled in the 1st inning, tripled and scored Lansing’s first run in the 3rd inning, and then doubled in the Lugnuts’ last run in the 5th inning. Schofield-Sam’s .356 batting average is best among all qualified hitters in the Midwest League, and his 22 extra-base hits are tops on the team. Right fielder Jared Dickey doubled twice and drove in a run, while left fielder Nate Nankil drilled his team-leading 14th double and drove in a run for Lansing. RHP Grant Judkins turned in an excellent start, allowing just 1 run through 7 innings of work to earn the win, while RHP Wander Guante pitched a perfect 8th, and RHP Mark Adamiak got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 10th save for the Lugnuts.
