RHP Donny Troconis turned in another impressive start for the Ports, but Stockton still went down to defeat on Sunday. The 19-year-old Venezuelan righty allowed just 2 hits while tossing 5 scoreless frames, and he exited with the game a scoreless tie. He threw just 68 pitches, 41 for strikes, and he’s now failed to allow an earned run over his last 10 innings of work. On the season, Troconis has given up just 6 earned runs and 21 hits over 45 2/3 frames, and his 1.18 ERA and 0.77 WHIP are both bests among qualified pitchers in the California League. 23-year-old Venezuelan RHP Alejandro Manzano followed Troconis on the mound and pitched 3 perfect innings in relief, but 21-year-old Dominican RHP Andinson Ferrer surrendered the game’s sole run in the bottom of the 9th to suffer the loss as Lake Elsinore won in a walk-off. Designated hitter German Ortiz and catcher Tommy Takayoshi had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports in the loss.
