Designated hitter Max Muncy, catcher Daniel Susac and left fielder Colby Thomas helped the Aviators put double digits on the board as Las Vegas claimed victory over Sugar Land on Thursday. Muncy went 4 for 5 with a triple and a double and drove in 5 runs, and the 22-year-old’s .333 batting average is currently second-best on the squad among hitters with at least 80 at-bats this season. Susac singled, slugged his 7th home run, drew a walk and drove in 3 runs, while Thomas singled, hit his team-leading 11th home run and drove in 4 runs, and shortstop Darell Hernaiz drilled a pair of doubles, drew a walk, drove in a run and scored twice. RHP Osvaldo Bido made his first start since being optioned back to Las Vegas and threw 4 1/3 scoreless frames, allowing 5 hits with 4 walks and 2 strikeouts. He threw 89 pitches, just 44 for strikes. RHP Tanner Dodson was charged with 3 runs in 2 innings of relief but still picked up the victory for Las Vegas. In other news, Jeff Passan and Martin Gallegos have both reported that center fielder Denzel Clarke will be promoted to the A’s. The 25-year-old center fielder was the A’s 4th-round draft pick in 2021. His .436 on-base percentage is currently good for fourth-best in the PCL. He’s drawn 23 walks in 31 games, leads Las Vegas with 3 triples and has 7 stolen bases this season for the Aviators.
