One of the A’s top pitching prospects, RHP Luis Morales, turned in an outstanding start to help the RockHounds record their third straight win over the Hooks on Thursday. The 22-year-old Cuban righty allowed just 2 hits with 8 strikeouts and no walks while throwing 6 scoreless innings to earn the win for Midland. Morales showed improved command and worked efficiently, throwing 78 pitches, 52 of them for strikes. LHP CD Pelham allowed 1 run in 1 inning of relief in his season debut, while RHP Wander Guante tossed 2 innings, giving up 1 run, for the RockHounds. Center fielder Henry Bolte and right fielder Junior Perez both singled and slugged two-run homers, with Bolte also stealing a base. First baseman Brennan Milone doubled, drew a walk and scored twice, while designated hitter Colby Halter singled, walked, stole a base and drove in a run, and third baseman Luke Mann singled twice and drove in a pair of runs for the RockHounds.
