Tuesday, April 15th: Daniel Susac’s HR Gives Vegas Walk-Off Win while Morris Leads Hounds Shutout Victory

Catcher Daniel Susac had a big game to lead Las Vegas to a walk-off victory over Sugar Land on Tuesday. 2022’s 1st-round draft pick for the A’s collected 4 hits on the day. He doubled in a run with two outs in the 2nd inning, doubled again in the 4th and singled to lead off the bottom of the 7th. Then, with the game tied in the 9th, Susac led off the bottom half of the frame by slugging a solo shot over the center field fence to give Las Vegas a walk-off win. Third baseman CJ Alexander tagged a two-run homer in the 2nd, had an RBI double in the 3rd and then singled in the 7th. Shortstop Darell Hernaiz hit his team-leading 8th double and scored a run in the 2nd and then homered to tie the game in the bottom of the 8th. Starter Jack Cushing allowed 5 runs in 4 frames, while LHP Hogan Harris tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Grant Holman pitched 2 perfect frames in the 8th and 9th to pick up the victory for Las Vegas.

 

TEXAS LEAGUE  (DOUBLE-A)

Midland shut out Corpus Christi on seven hits to snap its four-game losing streak on Tuesday. RHP Kade Morris turned in an excellent start, striking out 6 in 7 scoreless innings to earn the win, while RHP Mitch Myers tossed a scoreless 8th, and RHP Shohei Tomioka pitched a perfect 9th to complete the shutout and secure his 2nd save. Second baseman Euribiel Angeles singled, doubled and drove in a pair, while right fielder Junior Perez singled twice and scored a run, and first baseman Luke Mann doubled and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

 

MIDWEST LEAGUE  (HIGH-A)

Lansing Lugnuts                         6

Wisconsin Timber Rattlers  2

WP: Garland 1-1 / 7.36

RHP Jake Garland delivered a solid start to lead Lansing to victory on Tuesday. The 24-year-old righty allowed 2 runs and struck out 6 in 6 2/3 innings of work to earn the win, while RHP Blaze Pontes tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief. Center fielder Rodney Green singled, walked twice, stole a base and scored a run, while third baseman Tommy White had a pair of hits, and right fielder Nate Nankil and second baseman Casey Yamauchi each singled and drove in a pair for the Lugnuts.

 

CALIFORNIA LEAGUE  (SINGLE-A)

Stockton Ports    6

Visalia Rawhide   1

WP: Troconis 2-0 / 0.00

HR: Naylor (1)

Solid pitching helped Stockton secure its sixth win in its last eight games on Tuesday. 19-year-old Venezuelan RHP Donny Troconis turned in a strong start, allowing just 1 hit in 6 shutout innings to pick up the win for the Ports, and he’s now thrown a total of 9 scoreless innings on the season. Left fielder Cameron Leary had a pair of hits, drew a walk, drove in a run and notched his league-leading 8th stolen base, while designated hitter Myles Naylor homered, and catcher Davis Diaz singled, drew a walk and drove in 3 runs for the Ports.
