Despite suffering the loss to see their four-game winning streak snapped, LHP Wei-En Lin impressed for the Ports on Friday. After appearing on the back end of a two-man tandem last week, the 19-year-old Taiwanese southpaw made his first start for Stockton on Friday and looked sharp. Lin allowed just 1 run while notching 8 strikeouts without issuing a walk through 5 frames. He threw 79 pitches, 54 for strikes, and the Taiwanese teenager has now allowed just 1 run and 6 hits while tallying 15 strikeouts with no walks in 8 innings of work so far this season for Stockton. His tandem partner, RHP Aidan Layton, last year’s 17th-round pick, allowed just 1 unearned run through 3 innings of work, but 19-year-old Venezuelan RHP Wilfred Alvarado gave up 3 runs, 2 earned, in the top of the 9th to surrender the lead and suffer the loss for Stockton. Third baseman C.J. Pittaro singled twice, walked twice, stole a base and drove in a pair, while left fielder Cameron Leary collected a pair of hits and scored twice, and catcher Davis Diaz and right fielder Cesar Franco drew 3 walks apiece for the Ports.
PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE (TRIPLE-A)

A four-run 7th inning led El Paso to its second straight victory over Las Vegas on Friday. RHP Gunnar Hoglund turned in a solid start, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits while notching 5 strikeouts with no walks through 5 2/3 frames, and he left with the game a 2-2 tie. LHP Hogan Harris replaced him on the mound and gave up 4 runs, 3 earned, on 5 hits in 1 1/3 innings of relief to suffer the loss for Las Vegas. Catcher Willie MacIver tripled, walked and scored a run, while center fielder Drew Avans doubled in a run, stole a base and scored twice, and first baseman Nick Kurtz went 2 for 4, collected his 6th double and drove in 2 runs to increase his league-leading RBI total to 20 for Las Vegas.
TEXAS LEAGUE (DOUBLE-A)

LP: Morales 0-1 / 5.68
Midland suffered its second straight loss to Wichita on Friday. RHP Luis Morales made the start and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and 4 walks while striking out 4 through 3 1/3 innings to take the loss. Right fielder Brayan Buelvas and first baseman Brennan Milone each doubled and drew a pair of walks, while center fielder Henry Bolte singled, doubled and drove in the RockHounds’ sole run in the loss.
MIDWEST LEAGUE (HIGH-A)

Lansing Lugnuts 4

The Lugnuts scored a comeback win against the Loons on Friday. Center fielder Jonny Butler doubled, drew a pair of walks and scored the tying run, while right fielder Jared Dickey singled, walked twice and stole a base. Left fielder Clark Elliott tripled in a run, walked and scored twice, and shortstop Sahid Valenzuela lined a two-run single to bring home the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the 8th for the Lugnuts. LHP Gage Jump made the start and allowed 2 runs while striking out 6 through 4 frames. RHP Hunter Breault tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Mark Adamiak held the opposition scoreless in the 8th and 9th to pick up the win for Lansing.
