The RoughRiders recorded the win over the RockHounds in 11 innings on Thursday to even up their best-of-three playoff series 1-1. RHP Jack Perkins turned in an outstanding start, allowing 1 run on just 2 hits while striking out 12 without issuing a walk through 6 innings of work, and he left the game with a one-run lead. RHPs Ryan Cusick and Tyler Baum each tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief, but RHP Seth Elledge gave up the tying run in the bottom of the 9th, and LHP David Leal allowed 2 unearned runs in extra innings to suffer the loss for Midland. Catcher Daniel Susac and first baseman Will Simpson belted back-to-back home runs in the 6th inning to give the Hounds a one-run lead, while center fielder Denzel Clarke singled in a run in the 10th to briefly give his team the lead before Midland ultimately went down to defeat in the 11th. The rubber game of the match is set for Friday in Frisco.

Las Vegas suffered its third straight loss on Thursday. RHP Janson Junk turned in a solid start, allowing 1 run and striking out 6 over 6 innings of work, and he left the game with a one-run lead. LHP Jack O’Loughlin tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, but RHP Jack Cushing gave up 3 runs in the 9th to tie the game, and RHP Zach Jackson allowed 1 unearned run in the top of the 10th to suffer the loss for Las Vegas. Right fielder Colby Thomas singled twice and slugged a two-run homer, while catcher Carlos Perez singled, walked and tagged a two-run shot. Third baseman Armando Alvarez singled and doubled, and shortstop Joshua Kuroda-Grauer, this year’s 3rd-round pick for the A’s, went 1 for 4 in his Triple-A debut for Las Vegas.
