The RockHounds recorded a two-hit shutout win over the RoughRiders in the first game of their best-of-three divisional playoff series on Tuesday. 23-year-old RHP Mason Barnett, who was acquired from Kansas City in the Lucas Erceg deal, turned in an impressive start, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 7 through 6 shutout innings to earn the win for Midland. RHP Colin Peluse tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Seth Elledge pitched a perfect 9th to secure the save and complete the shutout for the Hounds. First baseman Will Simpson singled and slugged a solo shot in the 2nd inning, while center fielder Denzel Clarke singled, walked and stole a base. Third baseman Jordan Groshans singled and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, and designated hitter Brennan Milone singled and scored a run for the RockHounds. Game #2 of the series is set to take place on Thursday in Frisco.

Las Vegas lost to El Paso in 10 innings on Tuesday. RHP Austin Pruitt made the start and was charged with 2 unearned runs in 3 innings of work, while RHP Gerardo Reyes gave up the tying run in the top of the 8th, and RHP Dany Jimenez surrendered 2 runs, 1 earned, in the 10th to suffer the loss for Las Vegas. Catcher Yohel Pozo clubbed his 15th home run, while left fielder CJ Alexander doubled in a run, drew 3 walks and scored twice. Right fielder Colby Thomas doubled and scored a run, and center fielder Logan Davidson singled in a pair of runs for the Aviators.
