The playoff-bound RockHounds registered their twelfth win in their last fourteen games on Friday and tied the franchise record for wins in a season. 24-year-old RHP Jack Perkins turned in another impressive start, allowing just 3 hits while striking out 10 through 6 shutout innings to record the win for the RockHounds. And Perkins has now given up just 1 run in 27 innings over his last 4 starts for Midland. Left fielder Junior Perez hit a three-run homer, drew a walk and drove in 4 runs on the night, while first baseman Will Simpson walked and slugged a solo shot. Catcher Shane McGuire doubled, walked twice and drove in a pair, and right fielder Henry Bolte singled twice, swiped a pair of bases and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

After tying the game in the top of the 9th inning, the Aviators ended up going down to defeat in 10 innings to see their three-game winning streak snapped on Friday. Left fielder Logan Davidson had another big game, going 3 for 5 with a home run, a triple, a double and a walk and drove in 3 runs for Las Vegas. The former 1st-round pick is now 8 for 17 with 6 extra-base hits over his last 4 games and is slashing .326/.423/.651 through 11 games in the month of September. Catcher Carlos Perez clubbed a two-run homer in the top of the 1st inning, while right fielder Colby Thomas singled, homered and drove in 3 runs. First baseman Tristan Gray singled, walked and slugged a solo shot to lead off the top of the 9th, and third baseman CJ Alexander singled, doubled, tripled and drove in 2 runs, including the tying run with two outs in the 9th. RHP Blake Beers had a rough start, allowing 8 runs, 7 earned, in 4 1/3 frames, and RHP Dany Jimenez was charged with 2 runs, 1 earned, in the bottom of the 10th to take the loss for Las Vegas.
