Tuesday, September 10th: Barnett Records Win for RockHounds while Pozo, Davidson & Soderstrom Lead Vegas to Victory

The RockHounds recorded their tenth win in their last eleven games on Tuesday. 23-year-old RHP Mason Barnett, who was acquired from Kansas City in the Lucas Erceg deal, turned in an impressive start for Midland, allowing just 2 hits while striking out 9 through 7 shutout innings to register the win for the RockHounds. LHP Domingo Robles tossed 2 scoreless frames to close out the shutout and secure the save for Midland. Third baseman Brennan Milone belted a two-run blast in the top of the 1st inning, while shortstop Jeremy Eierman slugged a solo shot in the 9th. First baseman Will Simpson singled twice and swiped a base, and center fielder Denzel Clarke walked twice, scored a run and recorded his 33rd stolen base for the RockHounds.

 

PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE  (TRIPLE-A)

The Aviators notched their fifth victory in their last seven games on Tuesday. Catcher Yohel Pozo, second baseman Logan Davidson and rehabbing first baseman Tyler Soderstrom led the Las Vegas attack. Pozo went 4 for 6 with a pair of doubles and drove in 3 runs, while Davidson singled, doubled twice, stole a base and drove in a pair, and Soderstrom tripled, singled twice, drew a walk, drove in a run and scored twice for the Aviators. Starter Robert Dugger allowed 2 runs over 4 1/3 frames, while LHP Jack O’Loughlin tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the victory for Las Vegas. Meanwhile, infielder Jordan Diaz landed on the 7-day injured list and RHP Mitch Myers was assigned to Las Vegas on Tuesday.

 

In Other News…

The Lansing Lugnuts and the Stockton Ports both completed their seasons on Sunday. Lansing finished the season with a record of 59-72 (.450), a 5.04 team ERA and a .704 team OPS. First baseman Will Simpson, who’s now on the RockHounds roster, led the Lugnuts with 107 hits, 69 walks, 16 home runs, 27 doubles, 47 extra-base hits and 81 RBIs. Stockton finished the season with a record of 46-84 (.354), a 5.89 team ERA and a .682 team OPS. Infielder Myles Naylor led the Ports with 11 home runs, 79 walks and 58 RBIs.
