Sunday, September 1st: Perez Hits 3 HRs for Vegas while Perkins Pitches Hounds to Victory

The Aviators surrendered seven runs in the bottom of the 9^th inning to lose in a walk-off on Sunday, but catcher Carlos Perez turned in the most impressive performance of the day. The 33-year-old Venezuelan backstop smashed three home runs in the game. Perez slugged a solo shot in the 2^nd to put his team on the board, belted a three-run blast in the 3^rd to break a 2-2 tie and give Las Vegas the lead, and then socked his second solo shot in the 9^th to give the Aviators a five-run lead in the final frame. His 21 home runs are now tied for third-most among A’s minor leaguers, and his 46 extra-base hits are the fourth-most in the system this season. Second baseman Hoy Park had 3 hits, including a triple, drew a walk and drove in a run, while left fielder Colby Thomas doubled twice and scored twice, and third baseman Logan Davidson had 3 hits to raise his average to .296 and drove in a run for the Aviators. RHP Blake Beers made the start and allowed 3 runs through 4 frames in his Triple-A debut, but RHPs Wander Guante and Dany Jimenez combined to surrender seven runs in the bottom of the 9^th as Las Vegas lost in a walk-off on Sunday.
