Saturday, August 31st: Leal Helps Pitch Hounds to Victory while Davidson & Park Homer for Vegas

 

TEXAS LEAGUE  (DOUBLE-A)

The RockHounds recorded their third straight win over the Missions on Saturday to increase their second-half division lead in the Texas League South to three games. Midland starter James Gonzalez didn’t allow an earned run through 5 frames, but he was charged with 4 unearned runs in the 4^th after a missed catch by first baseman Will Simpson helped to prolong the inning. With the game tied 4-4, LHP David Leal replaced Gonzalez on the mound for Midland and pitched 3 perfect innings to pick up his 5^th win for the RockHounds. The lefty needed just 26 pitches to set down the sides in order in the 6^th, 7^th and 8^th. RHP Tyler Baum got the final three outs in the 9^th to secure the save for Midland. Right fielder Henry Bolte singled, tripled and stole a base, while Simpson had a pair of hits, drew a walk and drove in a run. Second baseman Brennan Milone singled twice and walked, and catcher Shane McGuire singled in the tie-breaking run in the top of the 8^th for the RockHounds.
