Midland had its four-game winning streak snapped by San Antonio, but second baseman Cooper Bowman still turned in the top performance in the A’s system on Wednesday. The 24-year-old infielder singled in the 1st inning, then tagged his 10th home run to tie the game in the 3rd. He followed that up by slugging his second solo shot of the day in the 5th but, unfortunately, Bowman’s two home runs accounted for the RockHounds’ only runs in the loss. It was Bowman’s fifth-straight multi-hit game. He’s gone 12 for 21 with 5 extra-base hits, 6 RBIs and 10 runs scored in his last 5 games and is now slashing .356/.465/.610 in 59 at-bats in the month of July. Shortstop Jack Winkler had 3 hits, including a double, and stole a base, while catcher Daniel Susac singled twice, walked and stole a base, and designated hitter Henry Bolte doubled and drew a walk for the RockHounds. Starter James Gonzalez allowed 4 runs over 5 frames to suffer the loss for Midland.
