23-year-old right fielder Colby Thomas had a big night to help lead Las Vegas to its second straight victory and a series split with Sacramento on Sunday. The A’s 3rd-round pick in 2022 homered in his third straight game, collected a pair of singles, was hit by a pitch, stole a base, scored twice and drove in 3 runs on the night. Since being promoted from Midland on June 18, Thomas is batting .347 with 5 doubles and 3 home runs in 12 games for the Aviators. Last year’s top pick for the A’s, designated hitter Jacob Wilson, continued his hot hitting, going 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles to raise his season average to .463, and catcher Carlos Perez singled and slugged his 11th home run, a two-run shot, for Las Vegas. Starter Robert Dugger, who was signed as a minor league free agent last month, allowed 4 runs in 6 innings of work to earn the win, while RHP Grant Holman pitched a perfect ninth to pick up the save for the Aviators.
