The Aviators put a season-high 16 runs on the board, but it still wasn’t enough to keep them from suffering their second straight loss to El Paso on Saturday. Right fielder Hoy Park had a huge night at the plate for Las Vegas by collecting 4 hits, including a pair of home runs in the 4th inning, one an inside-the-parker, while also drawing a walk and driving in 5 runs. Park, who was signed to a minor league deal in the offseason, now leads the squad with 44 hits, 33 walks and 33 RBI while boasting an on-base percentage of .416, which is best among all current Aviators with at least 100 at-bats. Left fielder Tyler Nevin tripled, drew a pair of walks and slugged a grand slam with two outs in the 3rd inning, and he’s now notched 7 extra-base hits and 12 RBI while sporting an .889 slugging percentage and a 1.301 OPS in 7 games since joining Las Vegas. Center fielder Lawrence Butler singled, walked and homered, and catcher Yohel Pozo had a pair of hits to boost his batting average to .309 and drove in a run for the Aviators. Starter J.T. Ginn was charged with 5 runs over 4 frames, while RHP Adrian Martinez gave up 3 runs in 1 inning of relief. RHP Pedro Santos allowed 4 runs in 1 frame, and RHP Tyler Ferguson surrendered 5 runs while recording just one out to suffer the loss for Las Vegas.
