Catcher Tyler Soderstrom pounded a pair of home runs to lead Las Vegas to its second straight victory over El Paso on Saturday. The 21-year-old former 1st-round pick slugged a two-run homer in the 7th inning to give Las Vegas the lead and then tagged another two-run homer in the 8th to pad the lead. Saturday’s performance raised Soderstrom’s slugging percentage to .532, and his 12 home runs now tie him with outfielder Cody Thomas for the team’s home run lead. Second baseman Zack Gelof singled twice, walked twice, scored twice and swiped a pair of bases, while third baseman Jordan Diaz singled, doubled twice and drove in a run. Shortstop Kevin Smith walked and homered, and right fielder Max Schuemann singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a pair for the Aviators. Starter Colton Eastman allowed 4 runs over 4 2/3 frames, while Chase Cohen picked up the win despite giving up 3 runs in 1 inning of relief, and RHP Garrett Acton tossed a scoreless 9th to secure his 2nd save for Las Vegas.
