CALIFORNIA LEAGUE (SINGLE-A)
Stockton Ports 6
Fresno Grizzlies 2
WP: Dicochea 2-0 / 1.74
HR: Milone (4)
RHP Jose Dicochea turned in a strong start to help Stockton secure its third straight win on Wednesday. The 22-year-old allowed just 2 hits while throwing 5 shutout innings to pick up the victory for the Ports. Dicochea has looked sharp in his return from Tommy John surgery. He’s now allowed just 2 runs and 5 hits while striking out 15 in his last 15 innings over his last 3 starts for Stockton, and his 1.74 ERA is best among all pitchers in the California League with at least 30 innings pitched this season. RHPs Yehizon Sanchez and Dallas Woolfolk each allowed 1 run in 2 innings of relief for the Ports. First baseman Brennan Milone, last year’s 6th-round draft pick for the A’s, singled and homered, while right fielder Pedro Pineda tripled, drew a walk and drove in a run. Left fielder Colby Thomas, last year’s 3rd-round pick, doubled and drew a walk, and catcher Cooper Uhl singled and drove in a pair for the Ports. Meanwhile, Stockton RHP Micah Dallas was placed on the injured list and LHP Eduardo Rivera was added to the Ports pitching staff on Wednesday.
