After dropping three in a row last week, Stockton battled back to win its second straight on Tuesday. And 22-year-old Dominican RHP Wander Guante turned in his second straight strong start, allowing 2 runs, just 1 earned, on 3 hits while walking none and striking out 7 over 6 innings of work for Stockton. Thanks to Guante’s solid work, when RHP Aaron Cohn took over in the top of the 7th, the Ports held a one-run lead. But Cohn gave up a pair of two-run homers in the inning to surrender the lead. Stockton’s offense did its job on Tuesday though. First baseman Brennan Milone doubled, drew 3 walks and drove in a run, while center fielder Brayan Buelvas singled, walked, was hit by a pitch and scored twice. Designated hitter T.J. Schofield-Sam doubled twice and drove in a run, and right fielder Henry Bolte doubled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th to bring home 3 runs, including the tying and winning runs, on Tuesday. RHP T.J. Czyz picked up the win after throwing 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Blaze Pontes allowed a run in the 9th but still managed to secure his 2nd save for Stockton.
