Catcher Shea Langeliers tagged a two-run homer with two outs in the 5th inning to temporarily give Las Vegas the lead on Wednesday night. Langeliers also drew a walk and came around to score the Aviators’ first run in the 2nd inning. And the backstop, who was acquired from Atlanta in the Matt Olson trade, now leads the team with 6 home runs while also boasting an OPS of 1.018. Designated hitter JJ Schwarz singled twice and drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 8th, while third baseman Vimael Machin had a pair of hits and scored a run. Rehabbing right fielder Ramon Laureano went 1 for 4, and shortstop Kevin Smith singled in a run in 4 at-bats and also stole a base in his first rehab game with Las Vegas. RHP Grant Holmes made the start and tossed 2 scoreless frames, while LHP Aaron Brown was charged with 1 unearned run in 1 inning of relief and picked up the win, and LHP Sam Selman got the final three outs to secure the save for Las Vegas.
