The Aviators scored 18 runs on the way to their second straight victory over the Aces on Saturday. Right fielder Cody Thomas led the way for Las Vegas. The 26-year-old singled, slugged a pair of home runs and drove in 4 runs on the night. Thomas has tagged three home runs in his last two games, and he’s now hitting .351 with 9 extra-base hits and 13 RBIs in 10 games in June. Second baseman Nate Mondou slugged a grand slam in the 1st inning for his first Triple-A home run and drove in 5 runs in the game, while left fielder Jacob Wilson singled, homered and drew a pair of walks, and first baseman Frank Schwindel homered in his fifth straight contest and has now notched six home runs over his last five games for Las Vegas. Starter Grant Holmes gave up 4 runs over 4 2/3 frames, while LHP A.J. Puk permitted 4 runs in 2 innings of relief, and RHP Jesus Zambrano allowed 1 run in 2 1/3 innings to earn the victory for Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Aviators infielder Edwin Diaz landed on the injured list with an oblique injury on Saturday.

Midland was shut out on just two hits to suffer its third straight loss to San Antonio on Saturday. RHP Bryce Conley turned in a solid start, allowing just 1 run over 5 frames, but he still ended up being saddled with the loss. First baseman JJ Schwarz and designated hitter Jeremy Eierman both singled to provide the Hounds’ only hits in the loss.

First baseman Lawrence Butler tripled, doubled and drove in a run, while right fielder Kevin Richards and third baseman T.J. Schofield-Sam each singled and walked for Stockton in the loss.
