First baseman Frank Schwindel continued his hot hitting to help lead Las Vegas to victory over Reno on Friday. The 28-year-old infielder doubled and scored the tying run in the 2nd inning, singled but was left stranded in the 5th, and then slugged a three-run homer in the 7th. It was Schwindel’s fifth home run in his last four games, and he leads all Las Vegas hitters in hits, runs and home runs, while his .322 batting average and .636 slugging percentage are both team bests. Center fielder Cody Thomas doubled and drilled a three-run homer, while right fielder Luis Barrera had 3 runs, drew a walk and scored a run for the Aviators. Starter Matt Milburn allowed 2 runs over 3 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Tanner Anderson tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the victory for Las Vegas.

Midland fell for the fifth time in its last six games on Friday. Starter Jared Koenig allowed 3 runs over 5 2/3 frames and left with the game tied, but RHP Montana DuRapau gave up 3 runs in just 1/3 of an inning of relief to suffer the loss. Shortstop Nick Allen had 3 hits for the second straight night to boost his batting average to .310 and also swiped a pair of bags, while first baseman Chase Calabuig doubled, drew a walk and drove in a run, and center fielder Devin Foyle singled, walked, stole a base and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

The Lugnuts suffered their second straight loss to the Whitecaps on Friday. Starter Reid Birlingmair allowed 3 runs over 5 frames and left the game with a one-run lead, but RHP Charles Hall was charged with 4 runs, 2 earned, in just 1/3 of an inning in relief to take the loss for the Lugnuts. Left fielder Lazaro Armenteros singled, stole a base and slugged his 1st home run for Lansing, while designated hitter Drew Millas collected 3 hits and drove in a run, and shortstop Max Schuemann doubled and scored a run in the loss. Meanwhile, 24-year-old Cuban outfielder Enrry Pantoja was added to the Lugnuts roster on Friday.

Stockton was shut out on just two hits to suffer its sixth loss in its last seven games on Friday. RHP Jake Walkinshaw turned in a solid start, allowing 2 runs over 5 frames, but he still ended up taking the loss, while tandem starter Trayson Kubo gave up 1 run in 3 innings of work for Stockton. Left fielder Brayan Buelvas and second baseman Sahid Valenzuela both singled to provide the Ports’ only hits in the loss.
