Las Vegas lost to Sacramento on Saturday to even their best-of-five playoff series and force a decisive Game #5 on Sunday. RHP Grant Holmes made the start and allowed just 1 run through the first 4 frames, but he gave 2 runs in the 5th before exiting with one out. On the night, Holmes was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits while walking none and striking out 5 over 4 1/3 innings of work to suffer the loss. RHP Jharel Cotton threw 3 innings in relief for Las Vegas and allowed 1 run on a two-out home run in the top of the 9th. Former A’s farmhand Carlos Navas made the start for Sacramento and no-hit the Aviators for 4 2/3 innings and ended up throwing 5 scoreless frames to record the win for the River Cats. Left fielder Mark Payton had a pair of hits, drew a walk and drove in a run, while right fielder Skye Bolt doubled to break up the no-hitter in the 5th and also drew a walk in the game. Second baseman Eric Campbell singled, walked and scored a run, and catcher Dustin Garneau doubled in a run for the Aviators. With the loss, the series goes to a decisive Game #5 in Las Vegas on Sunday with RHP James Kaprielian set to make the start for the Aviators.

The RockHounds suffered their second straight loss to the Sod Poodles on Saturday to even their best-of-five playoff series 2-2 and force a decisive Game #5 on Sunday. Starter Mitchell Jordan allowed 3 runs and struck out 6 over 6 innings of work to take the loss, while RHP Wandisson Charles gave up 2 runs in 1 2/3 innings, and RHP Norge Ruiz pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings in relief for the RockHounds. Second baseman Nate Mondou had a pair of hits, including a double, while center fielder Mickey McDonald drew a pair of walks, stole a base and scored the RockHounds’ only run. And with the loss, the series goes to a decisive Game #5 in Midland on Sunday. Sunday’s starter has not yet been announced for Midland, but LHP Jhenderson Hurtado could be in line for the start after starting last Sunday’s game for the RockHounds.
