After slugging three home runs for Las Vegas on Saturday, right fielder Mark Payton came back to belt two more home runs for the Aviators on Sunday. Payton tagged a two-run homer to break a 1-1 tie in the 2nd inning and then slugged another two-run shot in the 7th. And over his last two games, the 27-year-old has gone 5 for 7 with 5 home runs and 9 RBIs for Las Vegas. Left fielder Dustin Fowler also had a big game on Sunday, collecting 4 hits, including his 16th home run and his 17th double, while also driving in 3 runs for the Aviators. Designated hitter Nick Martini hit a three-run homer, drew a walk and drove in another run with a sacrifice fly on Sunday. Starter James Naile allowed 4 runs over 4 1/3 frames, while LHP Kyle Lobstein tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to earn the victory for Las Vegas.

Midland suffered its third loss in its last four games on Sunday. RHP Matt Milburn had a rough start for the RockHounds, giving up 8 runs in just 2 2/3 innings of work to take the loss. First baseman Chase Calabuig doubled, drew a walk and scored the RockHounds’ only run in the loss. In other news, the A’s dealt Midland shortstop Kevin Merrell to Kansas City for pitcher Homer Bailey on Sunday.

RHP Mitchell Jordan turned in an impressive start for Stockton on Sunday. The 24-year-old had a no-hitter through 6 innings before giving up a leadoff double in the bottom of the 7th, and he ended up allowing just 1 hit while striking out 7 over 7 scoreless innings to secure his 7th win for Stockton. And Jordan’s 100 strikeouts are currently the most among A’s minor leaguers. RHP Eric Marinez tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to complete the three-hit shutout on Sunday. First baseman Alfonso Rivas singled, doubled and drew a walk, while center fielder Mickey McDonald walked and tripled in a pair of runs. Designated hitter Trace Loehr had a pair of hits and stole a base, and third baseman Jonah Bride singled twice and drove in a pair for the Ports.

The Snappers dropped their second straight to Dayton on Sunday. Starter Joe DeMers gave up 5 runs over 4 frames, while RHP Chase Cohen allowed 3 runs in 4 innings of relief to suffer the loss. Catcher John Jones singled, doubled, drew a walk and scored twice, while shortstop Max Schuemann had a pair of hits, drove in a run and tallied his team-leading 9th stolen base. Left fielder Devin Foyle singled in 2 runs and drove in another run with a sacrifice fly, and center fielder Lester Madden singled in a pair for the Snappers.

The Lake Monsters managed just three hits to suffer their third loss in their last four games on Sunday. This year’s 2nd-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Tyler Baum, made the start and threw 3 scoreless and hitless innings, but 23-year-old Cuban LHP Yorlenis Noa allowed 2 runs in 3 innings of relief to take the loss. This year’s 32nd-round draft pick, right fielder Marty Bechina, singled and walked, while 20-year-old Venezuelan designated hitter Jose Rivas singled in a run, and this year’s top draft pick, shortstop Logan Davidson, walked twice, swiped a pair of bases and scored the Lake Monsters’ sole run in the loss.
