On a day in which six of the A’s seven affiliates went down to defeat, 18-year-old Colombian third baseman Jordan Diaz may have turned in the best individual performance of the day. Diaz collected 4 hits and drove in a pair of runs, but the Lake Monsters still ended up suffering their sixth straight loss on Thursday. Diaz currently leads the Lake Monsters in hits, home runs, doubles and RBIs while also boasting team bests in batting average (.293) and slugging percentage (.488). This year’s top draft pick for the A’s, shortstop Logan Davidson, singled, walked and scored twice in the loss. This year’s 9th-round draft pick, RHP Colin Peluse, made the start and was charged with 1 unearned run in 2 innings of work, while 23-year-old Cuban LHP Yorlenis Noa gave up 5 runs, 4 earned, in 2 innings of relief to take the loss for the Lake Monsters.
