This year’s 15th-round draft pick for the A’s, designated hitter Josh Watson, helped the Ports prevail over San Jose in extra innings on Friday. The 22-year-old outfielder out of TCU reached based 4 times and scored 4 runs for Stockton. Watson whacked a home run in the 5th inning and then tripled in the winning run in the top of the 10th. He also singled, walked and stole a base in the game. Right fielder Jameson Hannah had 4 hits, including a triple, drove in a pair and stole a base, while shortstop Jeremy Eierman singled twice, walked and scored a run. Left fielder Lazaro Armenteros had a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in 2 runs, and first baseman Alfonso Rivas drew a walk and singled in a pair for the Ports. Starter Brady Feigl allowed 3 runs in 1 inning of work, while RHP Jake Bray threw 4 scoreless frames in relief. RHP Nick Highberger tossed 2 scoreless innings to notch the win, and RHP Wandisson Charles got the final three outs in the bottom of the 10th to secure his 2nd save for Stockton. Meanwhile, shortstop Nick Allen was placed on the disabled list on Friday and infielder Ryan Gridley was promoted to the Ports.

Las Vegas suffered a one-run loss to have its four-game winning streak snapped on Friday. Starter Jake Buchanan was charged with 5 runs over 5 1/3 frames, while RHP Ryan Dull allowed 2 runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief to take the loss for Las Vegas. Rehabbing catcher Chris Herrmann singled and slugged a two-run homer to break a 2-2 tie in the top of the 5th, while center fielder Dustin Fowler tripled, doubled and scored a run, and third baseman Eric Campbell doubled twice and drove in a run in the loss.

The RockHounds recorded their second straight win over Frisco on Friday. Catcher Collin Theroux drew a pair of walks and hit a two-run homer in the top of the 5th inning to give his team the lead. He also scored 3 runs in the game, including the go-ahead run in the 7th. Third baseman Edwin Diaz homered, drew a walk and drove in 3 runs, while right fielder Taylor Motter homered in his first game for the Hounds. Starter Daulton Jefferies permitted 1 run in 3 innings of work, while LHP A.J. Puk gave up 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 4 in 1 1/3 innings of relief, and RHP Grant Holmes allowed 1 run over 4 frames to earn the win for Midland.

The Snappers suffered their fifth straight loss on Friday. RHP Joe DeMers delivered solid start, allowing 2 runs over 5 frames, but he still ended up taking the loss. Left fielder Logan Farrar homered for the Snappers’ sole run in the loss. Meanwhile, Beloit infielder Ryan Gridley was promoted to the Ports and Vermont infielder was reassigned to the Snappers on Friday.

Vermont notched its third straight victory on Friday. This year’s 9th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Colin Peluse, made the start and allowed 1 run over 2 innings of work in his professional debut. LHP Hogan Harris was outstanding in relief. Last year’s 3rd-round draft pick for the A’s allowed 1 run on just 2 hits and struck out 6 over 5 frames to earn the win, while LHP Josh Reagan tossed 2 scoreless innings to secure his 1st save for the Lake Monsters. 19-year-old Dominican shortstop Yerdel Vargas doubled twice and drove in 3 runs, while 18-year-old Colombian third baseman Jordan Diaz had a pair of hits for Vermont. Meanwhile, infielder Nick Ward was reassigned to the Snappers from the Lake Monsters on Friday.
