RHP Kyle Friedrichs turned in an outstanding start on Saturday, striking out 10 while throwing 6 shutout innings to earn his 2nd win for Midland. RHP John Gorman tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to record his 5th save for the RockHounds. Right fielder Luis Barrera homered in the 1st inning to give the Hounds a lead they’d never surrender. First baseman Chase Calabuig had a pair of hits, while center fielder Dairon Blanco singled and swiped a pair of bases to increase his team-leading total to 20, and left fielder Tyler Ramirez doubled in a pair of runs for the RockHounds.

Las Vegas suffered a one-run loss to Sacramento on Saturday. LHP Jesus Luzardo made his first start for the Aviators and allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5 over 3 1/3 innings of work. Luzardo threw 61 pitches, 35 for strikes and hit 100 mph on the stadium radar gun. RHP Miguel Romero threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings, but RHP Norge Ruiz gave up 2 runs in 2 innings of relief to suffer the loss for Las Vegas. First baseman Corban Joseph had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while designated hitter Franklin Barreto singled, doubled and stole a base. Center fielder Dustin Fowler had a pair of hits and drove in a run, and shortstop Jorge Mateo hit his league-leading 13th triple and scored a run for Las Vegas in the loss.

Stockton won it’s fourth straight on Saturday. First baseman Alfonso Rivas singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a run, while shortstop Nick Allen collected 3 hits and drove in a pair. Designated hitter Robert Mullen singled twice, walked and drove in 2 runs, while second baseman Trace Loehr had 3 hits and drove in a run, and third baseman Jonah Bride singled, tripled and drove in a pair for the Ports. RHP James Kaprielian made the start and allowed 1 run on 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 2 in 2 2/3 innings of work. Kaprielian threw 47 pitches, 31 for strikes and, according to Ports play-by-play man Zack Bayrouty, his fastball was sitting between 90-93 mph on Saturday. LHP Will Gilbert picked up the win despite giving up 1 run in 1 1/3 innings of relief, and LHP Jared Poche pitched 3 perfect innings in his return from the injured list for the Ports.

The Snappers suffered their fourth loss in their last five games on Saturday. Starter Aiden McIntyre allowed 5 runs over 4 frames to take the loss. Third baseman Cobie Vance had 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in a run, while right fielder Skyler Weber doubled and drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home a run. Catcher John Jones singled, walked and drove in a run, and shortstop Ryan Gridley singled twice for the Snappers in the loss.

The Lake Monsters fell in extra innings to suffer their fourth straight loss on Saturday. LHP Hogan Harris made the start and was charged with 2 unearned runs in 3 2/3 innings of work, while second baseman Nick Ward took over on the mound in the bottom of the 11th and allowed the winning run to suffer the loss. 18-year-old Colombian third baseman Jordan Diaz hit his 3rd home run, a three-run shot, for Vermont.

The AZL A’s Green squad was shut out on just six hits on Saturday. 21-year-old Dominican LHP Livan Sanchez made the start and allowed 2 runs over 3 innings of work to suffer the loss. 19-year-old second baseman Givaine Basilia and 24-year-old first baseman Gio Dingcong had a pair of hits apiece in the loss.

This year’s 4th-round draft pick for the A’s, Kyle McCann, had another big night at the plate to help the AZL A’s Gold squad win on Saturday. McCann singled, doubled, homered and drove in a pair of runs, while left fielder Shane Selman had 3 hits, walked and scored twice. Shortstop Elvis Peralta drew 4 walks, stole a base and scored 3 runs, and second baseman Michael Woodworth walked twice and singled in a pair. Former infielder Jesus Lage made the start and allowed 1 run in 2 innings of work, while 19-year-old Cuban RHP Pedro Santos threw 3 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win for the A’s.
