The RockHounds won in a walk-off on Wednesday. Third baseman Edwin Diaz slugged a two-run homer in the 2nd inning and then singled in another run in the 3rd, while first baseman Chase Calabuig had 3 hits and scored a run, and shortstop Kevin Merrell singled twice and drove in a run for the RockHounds. Starter Matt Milburn allowed 4 runs over 6 frames and left with the game a 4-4 tie. And with two men on in the bottom of the 9th, a fielding error allowed the winning run to cross the plate as the RockHounds won in a walk-off. RHP John Gorman recorded the win after tossing 2 scoreless innings in relief for the RockHounds.

The Lake Monsters suffered a one-run loss on Wednesday. 21-year-old Cuban RHP Richard Guasch turned in a solid start, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 5 over 4 scoreless frames, but 20-year-old Venezuelan RHP Angello Infante allowed 5 runs, 3 earned, over 5 innings of work to suffer the loss for the Lake Monsters. 19-year-old Dominican shortstop Yerdel Vargas hit a two-run homer, while 20-year-old Dominican first baseman Christopher Quintin doubled, drew a walk and scored a run, and 19-year-old Dominican center fielder Kevin Richards and second baseman Nick Ward had a pair of hits apiece in the loss. The Lake Monsters turned a triple play in the 5th inning when third baseman Jordan Diaz snagged a grounder, touched third for the first out, threw to second baseman Nick Ward for the second out, who then fired to first baseman Christopher Quintin for the third and final out.

This year’s 31st-round draft pick for the A’s, center fielder Matthew Koehler, doubled in a pair of runs, while 21-year-old Venezuelan second baseman Wilson Alvarez had 2 hits, including a double, and 18-year-old Dominican shortstop Jhoan Paulino doubled in a run in the loss.

This year’s 4th-round draft pick for the A’s homered, tripled, walked and scored twice, while 20-year-old Puerto Rican first baseman Santis Sanchez homered. 19-year-old Venezuelan designated hitter Rafael Rincones doubled, drew a walk and scored twice, and this year’s 21st-round pick, left fielder Shane Selman, singled twice and drove in a run in the loss. 17-year-old Venezuelan RHP Luis Carrasco made the start and tossed 2 scoreless innings, while former infielder Jesus Lage was charged with 5 runs in just 2/3 of an inning, and 20-year-old Dominican RHP Keiro Munoz allowed 3 runs in 2 innings of relief to suffer the loss for the A’s.
