The Aviators put double digits on the board for the second straight day to win their third straight on Monday. Second baseman Franklin Barreto delivered the big blow, belting a grand slam in the 2nd inning. Barreto also drew a walk, stole a base and drove in another run with a sacrifice fly, and he’s now hit 8 home runs, driven in 26 runs and compiled a slugging percentage of .937 in 15 games during the month of June. Rehabbing catcher Chris Herrmann singled, homered, drew a walk and drove in a pair, while shortstop Jorge Mateo singled twice, walked twice and drove in 3. Left fielder Nick Martini had a pair of hits, including a double, and drew a walk, and right fielder Skye Bolt singled twice, walked and drove in a run for the Aviators. Starter Jake Buchanan allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, over 2 innings of work, while RHP Norge Ruiz threw 3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the victory for Las Vegas.

The Lake Monsters were shut out on three hits to suffer their first loss of the season on Monday. 2018’s 3rd-round draft pick for the A’s, LHP Hogan Harris, made his organizational debut on Monday and was charged with 3 runs over 3 1/3 innings to take the loss. 18-year-old Colombian third baseman Jordan Diaz singled twice for Vermont in the loss.

The AZL A’s Green team suffered the loss in its season opener on Monday. 20-year-old Dominican RHP Ismael Aquino made the start and allowed 2 runs over 3 2/3 innings of work, while 21-year-old Dominican LHP Livan Sanchez gave up 6 runs, 4 earned, in 3 1/3 innings of relief to take the loss. 18-year-old Dominican shortstop Jhoan Paulino had a big game, doubling twice and driving in 5 runs for the A’s.

The AZL A’s Gold squad won their season opener on Monday. LHP Dean Kiekhefer, who is on a rehab assignment from Las Vegas, made the start and allowed 1 run over 2 innings of work, while 19-year-old Cuban RHP Pedro Santos threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win, and 19-year-old Puerto Rican RHP Osvaldo Berrios allowed just 1 hit and struck out 6 over 3 2/3 scoreless innings to earn the save for the A’s. This year’s 29th-round draft pick for the A’s, second baseman Michael Woodworth, singled and doubled twice, while 22-year-old Venezuelan left fielder Yhoelnys Gonzalez singled, tripled and drove in a run. This year’s 26th-round pick, shortstop Elvis Peralta, slugged a solo shot, and 19-year-old Venezuelan right fielder Rafael Rincones tripled and scored a run for the A’s.
