Stockton had its four-game winning streak snapped by Visalia on Monday. RHP James Kaprielian made the start and allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, on 4 hits while walking none and striking out 4 over 3 innings of work to suffer his 2nd loss for Stockton. Kaprielian threw 42 pitches, 27 for strikes. He struck out the side in order in the 1st inning, and Ports play-by-play man Zack Bayrouty reported that Kaprielian’s fastball topped out at 94 mph on Monday. Shortstop Nick Allen had another big night at the plate for the Ports, collecting 3 hits, including his league-leading 17th double. Allen has now gone 12 for 24 with 4 extra-base hits over his last 5 games, and his 24 extra-base hits this season are the most by any player in the California League. Designated hitter Trace Loehr singled, doubled and drew a walk, while left fielder Lazaro Armenteros walked, was hit by a pitch and stole a base for Stockton.

Midland suffered its third straight loss on Monday. Starter Matt Milburn gave up 4 runs over 5 frames to take the loss for the RockHounds. Midland managed just four hits in the game. Left fielder Dairon Blanco tripled in a pair of runs, while third baseman Edwin Diaz also tripled but was left stranded. Shortstop Kevin Merrell and catcher Collin Theroux each singled, and second baseman Nate Mondou drove in a run for the RockHounds with a sacrifice fly. Meanwhile, Aviators outfielder Tyler Ramirez was reassigned to the RockHounds and Midland first baseman Anthony Miller was assigned to Vermont on Monday.
