The RockHounds fell for the fourth straight time on Friday, but catcher Collin Theroux had a big day at the plate for Midland. The 25-year-old had 3 hits, including a solo home run in the 2nd inning and a two-run homer in the top of the 9th to give him his team-leading 6th home run despite appearing in just 21 games for the RockHounds. Designated hitter Jonah Heim singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a run, while left fielder Chase Calabuig reached base on 3 walks, and center fielder Dairon Blanco singled twice and drove in a run for the RockHounds. RHP James Naile allowed 3 runs over 5 1/3 frames, but RHP Trey Cochran-Gill entered with the game tied and gave up 5 runs in the 8th. And after the RockHounds scored 5 runs in the top of the 9th to tie the game again, a fielding error by shortstop Kevin Merrell in the bottom of the 9th led to 2 unearned runs off RHP Angel Duno, who suffered the loss as Amarillo won in a walk-off. Meanwhile, infielder Brallan Perez was reassigned to the RockHounds on Friday.

Las Vegas lost in extra innings to snap its three-game winning streak on Friday. RHP Tanner Anderson turned in a solid start, allowing just 1 run while striking out 7 over 5 frames, but he left the game with his team down by a run. RHP Norge Ruiz tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, and designated hitter Corban Joseph singled in the tying run with two outs in the bottom of the 9th, but RHP Ryan Dull gave up 4 runs, 3 earned, in the top of the 10th to take the loss for Las Vegas. Shortstop Jorge Mateo had 3 hits, stole a base and scored the tying run in the 9th, while right fielder Seth Brown collected a pair of hits, including a double, and center fielder Dustin Fowler singled twice and drove in a pair of runs in the bottom of the 10th for the Aviators. And with Khris Davis landing on the injured list for Oakland, Las Vegas outfielder Skye Bolt was added to the A’s roster on Friday.

RHP James Kaprielian made his first appearance for Stockton last Sunday in a game that was suspended after just 2 innings of play, but Kaprielian got the chance to pick up where he left off when the game resumed on Friday. Last Sunday, the 25-year-old allowed 1 run on 1 hit, a 1st-inning home run, while walking none and striking out 1 over 2 innings of work. And on Friday, Kaprielian gave up 1 run on 3 hits while walking 1 and striking out 3. Overall, he allowed 2 runs on 4 hits while walking 1 and striking out 4 over 5 frames to pick up the win for the Ports. Kaprielian threw a total of 70 pitches, 46 for strikes. Designated hitter Jonah Bride belted a three-run homer in the 2nd inning on Sunday to provide all the offense the Ports would need, and RHP Jesus Zambrano tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to secure his 2nd save for Stockton.

In Friday’s regularly-scheduled game, center fielder Austin Beck collected a pair of hits, including a two-run triple in the top of the 3rd inning to provide all the runs the Ports would need to pick up their second victory of the day. Catcher Robert Mullen singled, doubled, drew a walk and scored a run for Stockton. RHP Rafael Kelly made the start and allowed 1 run in 2 2/3 innings of work, while LHP Pat Krall threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to notch the win, and RHP Jake Bray got the final five outs for Stockton to pick up the save for the Ports.

Snappers starter Chase Cohen allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, over 4 frames to suffer his 5th loss on Friday. Second baseman Joseph Pena singled twice and drew a walk, while left fielder Devin Foyle had a pair of hits, and third baseman Cobie Vance and first baseman Max Schuemann each singled and walked for the Snappers. And with infielder Ryan Gridley’s return from the injured list, infielder Brallan Perez was reassigned to the RockHounds on Friday.
