Beloit busted out for its biggest offensive explosion this season by putting 15 runs on the board on Sunday. Catcher Skyler Weber, who was making his first start in the outfield this season, led the way with 4 hits, including 2 home runs, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored for the Snappers. The 23-year-old slugged a pair of solo shots, one in the 2nd inning and another in the 8th, doubled in a run in the 3rd and singled in a run in the 4th. Shortstop Marcos Brito belted a two-run homer and walked twice, while catcher Cooper Goldby singled, doubled, drew a walk and stole a base. Center fielder Devin Foyle had 2 hits, drew a walk and drove in a pair, while first baseman Max Schuemann singled twice, walked and drove in a run, and designated hitter John Jones had 2 hits, including his team-leading 4th home run, and drove in a pair for Beloit. Starter Chase Cohen surrendered 6 runs over 6 innings of work but picked up his 4th win for the Snappers.

RHP Tanner Anderson had another shaky start as Las Vegas suffered the loss in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader. Anderson surrendered 6 runs, with 4 coming on a grand slam in the 1st inning, over 4 frames to take the loss for Las Vegas. Second baseman Franklin Barreto reached base 3 times, on a double and a pair of walks, and scored a run, while left fielder Skye Bolt doubled and drove in a run. First baseman Seth Brown doubled and scored a run, and center fielder Dustin Fowler singled and stole a base in the loss.

Las Vegas suffered the loss in Sunday’s second game as Salt Lake swept their doubleheader. RHP J.B. Wendelken didn’t fare well in the role of “opener.” He gave up 5 runs, 4 earned, before departing with one out in the 1st inning and ended up taking the loss. Shortstop Jorge Mateo tagged a two-run homer to give him his team-leading 24th extra-base hit, while first baseman Seth Brown belted his team-best 11th home run, and second baseman Franklin Barreto singled, doubled and scored twice for Las Vegas.

The RockHounds battled back to record a one-run win over Corpus Christi on Sunday. Center fielder Luis Barrera singled twice, stole a base and drove in the winning run in the 7th inning, while shortstop Kevin Merrell doubled in a pair, and right fielder Chase Calabuig had 2 hits and drove in a run for the RockHounds. Starter James Naile was charged with 3 runs over 4 2/3 frames, while LHP Zack Erwin tossed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, and RHP John Gorman got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 2nd save for Midland.

RHP James Kaprielian returned to the mound for the first time in two and a half years to make his debut for Stockton on Sunday. The 25-year-old allowed 1 run on 1 hit, a 1st-inning home run, while walking none and striking out 1 over 2 innings of work. Kaprielian threw 22 pitches, 17 for strikes, but that’s as far as the weather would allow him to go in his first start. Designated hitter Jonah Bride belted a three-run homer before rain caused the game to be suspended with Stockton up 3-1 after 2 innings. Meanwhile, Sunday’s scheduled second game was postponed.
