MIDWEST LEAGUE (Class-A)
Beloit Snappers 4
Clinton LumberKings 5
LP: Conley 0-1 / 4.85
HR: Ward (1)
Prospect Of The Game:
Second Baseman Nick Ward
(2 for 4 / Grand Slam / Stolen Base)
After winning two straight one-run games, the Snappers fell in a one-run affair on Tuesday. Second baseman Nick Ward got things off to a good start for the Snappers. With the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the 1st inning, last year’s 34th-round draft pick for the A’s stepped to the plate and slugged a grand slam to give the Snappers an early four-run lead. But that would be all the scoring Beloit would do on Tuesday. Ward went on to single and steal a base in the 6th, while first baseman Payton Squier singled and walked for the Snappers. RHP Aiden McIntyre turned in a solid start, allowing 1 run and striking out 6 in 4 innings of work, but his tandem-pitching partner, RHP Bryce Conley gave up 4 runs over 4 frames to suffer the loss for the Snappers.
