First baseman Seth Brown had a big night at the plate on Monday to help Las Vegas run its record to a league-best 10-2. Brown homered in three consecutive at-bats for the Aviators, belting a three-run blast in the 1st inning, drilling a two-run drive in the 3rd, and then slugging a solo shot in the 5th. And Brown’s 15 RBIs now tie him with teammate Mark Payton for second-most in the league. Payton singled twice and stole a base in the game, and shortstop Jorge Mateo singled in the Aviators’ only other run of the night. Starter Daniel Mengden allowed 5 runs over 6 innings of work to pick up his 2nd win, while RHP Ryan Dull tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Brian Schlitter secured his 2nd save despite giving up a run in the 9th for Vegas.

The RockHounds shut out the Sod Poodles on just 6 hits on Monday. RHP Brian Howard turned in another excellent start, allowing 4 hits over 6 shutout innings to earn his 2nd win, and the 6-foot-9 righty has now given up just 1 run in 16 innings over his first 3 starts this season. LHP Zack Erwin tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Trey McNutt pitched a perfect 9th to complete the shutout for Midland on Monday. Left fielder Dairon Blanco had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while right fielder Greg Deichmann singled twice, drew a walk, stole a base and drove in a run. Designated hitter Anthony Miller had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, and second baseman Nate Mondou singled twice and drove in 3 runs for the RockHounds.
CALIFORNIA LEAGUE (High-A)

The Ports banged out 14 hits to pick up their fourth win in their last five games on Monday. Center fielder Austin Beck singled, doubled twice, drew a walk and drove in 2 runs, while right fielder Jameson Hannah had 4 hits and scored twice, and left fielder Lazaro Armenteros had 3 hits, drew a walk and drove in a pair for the Ports. With the game delayed due to bad weather, Stockton decided to have reliever Pat Krall make the start, and the lefty tossed 2 scoreless innings. Scheduled starter Mitchell Jordan then entered the game and was outstanding, allowing just 1 run while striking out 9 over 5 frames to pick up the win for the Ports.

The Snappers shut out Wisconsin on just 4 hits on Monday. RHP Chase Cohen, who was last year’s 9th-round draft pick for the A’s, turned in an impressive start, allowing just 3 hits while walking none and striking out 6 over 6 shutout innings to earn his 2nd win for the Snappers. RHP Wandisson Charles threw 1 scoreless inning in relief, and converted infielder Eric Marinez tossed 2 scoreless frames to complete the shutout and secure the save for the Snappers. Second baseman Ryan Gridley singled, doubled and belted a two-run homer for Beloit.
