The RockHounds shut out the RoughRiders on just four hits to win their sixth straight on Sunday. Starter Brian Howard allowed just 3 hits and struck out 6 over 6 shutout innings, while RHP Miguel Romero tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP John Gorman pitched a perfect 9th to complete the shutout and record his 2nd save for the RockHounds. And with Sunday’s outing, Howard finishes the season with a 2.91 ERA in 24 appearances for Stockton and Midland. Shortstop Eli White homered and doubled, while second baseman Richie Martin singled, doubled and tallied his team-leading 25th stolen base, and right fielder J.P. Sportman singled in a run for the RockHounds. Meanwhile, Midland RHP Sam Bragg was reassigned to the Sounds on Sunday.

The Sounds suffered their fourth loss in their last five games on Sunday. LHP Eric Jokisch turned in his fourth straight quality start, allowing 2 runs and striking out 8 over 7 innings of work, but he still ended up being saddled with the loss. Nashville notched just four hits in the game. First baseman Steve Lombardozzi, second baseman Melvin Mercedes, third baseman Sheldon Neuse and center fielder Boog Powell all singled in the loss. Meanwhile, RockHounds RHP Sam Bragg was reassigned to the Sounds on Sunday.

Beloit bested Cedar Rapids on Sunday to remain in contention for a playoff spot heading into the final day of the regular season on Monday. First baseman Hunter Hargrove singled, doubled twice and drove in 3 runs, including the winning run, while left fielder Lazaro Armenteros had 3 hits, walked, stole a base and drove in a run, and center fielder Austin Beck singled twice, doubled and drove in a pair for the Snappers. Starter Jhenderson Hurtado returned from the disabled list to allow 1 run in 3 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Nick Highberger tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, and RHP Seth Martinez got the final four outs for the Snappers to tally his team-leading 14th save.

Starter Brandon Marsonek allowed just 1 hit over 4 shutout frames, while RHP Caleb Evans threw 3 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win, and RHP Bryce Nightengale got the final six outs for the Lake Monsters to secure his 2nd save. Left fielder Noah Vaughan slugged his 2nd home run, while second baseman Marcos Brito and rehabbing Stockton shortstop Kevin Merrell had a pair of hits apiece for the Lake Monsters.
