Left fielder Anthony Garcia launched a three-run homer in the bottom of the 1st inning to give the Sounds an early lead that they would never surrender on Friday. Garcia also singled and walked in the game, while shortstop Jorge Mateo had 3 hits, including his league-leading 16th triple, which is a Sounds single-season record, and also scored 3 times and tallied his team-best 24th stolen base. RHP Chris Bassitt made the start and tossed 1 scoreless inning, while this year’s 22nd-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Aiden McIntyre, was outstanding in relief, throwing 4 scoreless frames to earn the win in his Nashville debut, and this year’s 21st-round pick, RHP Daniel Martinez, gave up 1 run over 3 innings of work in his Triple-A debut. In addition to McIntyre and Martinez, catchers Sean Murphy and Cooper Goldby, infielder Nick Ward, and RHPs Ismael Aquino, Richard Morban and Calvin Coker were all added to the Sounds roster. The A’s optioned RHP Frankie Montas to Nashville and recalled outfielder Dustin Fowler, while LHP Jesus Luzardo and RHP James Naile were both assigned to the Arizona League A’s roster since there’s no plan for either of them to throw again this season.

The RockHounds notched their eighth win in their last nine games on Friday. Center fielder Luis Barrera and designated hitter Brett Vertigan each doubled and drove in a pair of runs for the RockHounds. RHP Heath Bowers made his first start since 2016 and allowed just 1 run over 4 frames, while RHP Joel Seddon was solid in relief, throwing 3 scoreless innings to earn the win, and RHP Kyle Finnegan pitched a perfect 9th to record his team-leading 13th save for the RockHounds. Meanwhile, Midland catcher Sean Murphy was reassigned to the Sounds on Friday. And RHP Logan Shore, who’s been on the disabled list since August 14, is set to throw a bullpen session in Midland this weekend.

Stockton had its five-game winning streak snapped on Friday. LHP Zack Erwin allowed 5 runs over 5 2/3 frames to suffer his 11th loss for Stockton. Center fielder Chase Calabuig doubled and drew a pair of walks, while right fielder Greg Deichmann doubled and scored Stockton’s sole run in the loss.

Beloit fell to Wisconsin in a walk-off on Friday. Starter Bryce Conley surrendered 5 runs, 4 earned, in just 3 frames but left with the game a 5-5 tie. RHP Slater Lee tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, but LHP Ivan Andueza hit a batter with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th to suffer his 10th loss for the Snappers as Wisconsin won in a walk-off. Right fielder Jack Meggs doubled in a run and drew a walk, while center fielder Austin Beck singled twice, walked and scored a run. First baseman Hunter Hargrove singled in a run, and designated hitter Logan Farrar drew a walk and singled in a pair for the Snappers.

Vermont shut out Staten Island on just four hits on Friday. Last year’s 29th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Adam Reuss, threw 6 shutout innings to earn his 6th win, while RHP Oscar Tovar pitched 2 perfect innings in relief, and RHP Jaimito Lebron got the final three outs in the 9th to complete the shutout for the Lake Monsters. Center fielder Devin Foyle singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in 3 runs, while third baseman Jonah Bride doubled and drove in 3, and first baseman Aaron Arruda and rehabbing Stockton shortstop Kevin Merrell had a pair of hits apiece for Vermont. Meanwhile, the Lake Monsters lost RHPs Richard Morban and Calvin Coker and catcher Cooper Goldby to Nashville on Friday.
