Designated hitter Anthony Garcia’s bat and starting pitcher Daniel Mengden‘s arm combined to lead the Sounds to their twelfth straight win on Saturday. Garcia, who is Nashville’s team leader in both doubles and RBIs, singled, doubled and drove in all 3 of the Sounds’ runs on Saturday. Center fielder Dustin Fowler had 3 hits, including a triple, walked, stole a base and scored twice. Meanwhile, Mengden delivered his second straight quality start for the Sounds, allowing 2 runs over 6 1/3 innings to notch his 4th win for Nashville, and RHP Liam Hendriks tossed a scoreless 9th to post his 4th save for the Sounds.

RHP Ben Bracewell turned in an outstanding start, but the RockHounds still wound up losing their second straight to Arkansas on Saturday. Bracewell allowed just 4 hits while throwing 6 shutout innings to notch his fourth straight quality start for Midland, and he left the game with a three-run lead on Saturday. But RHPs Joel Seddon and Miguel Romero combined to surrender 8 runs in relief, with Seddon suffering his 7th loss. Center fielder Skye Bolt singled, doubled, homered and drove in 2 runs, while third baseman Nate Mondou singled, doubled and scored a run, and second baseman J.P. Sportman walked, stole a base and singled in a pair of runs for the RockHounds in the loss.

Stockton suffered a one-run loss to San Jose on Saturday. Left fielder Luke Persico had a big night at the plate for the Ports, collecting 3 hits, including a double, while driving in the tying run in the 7th inning for Stockton. Second baseman Cobie Vance, catcher Santiago Chavez and designated hitter Brett Siddall had a pair of hits apiece for the Ports. LHP Zack Erwin turned in a strong start, allowing 2 runs over 6 innings of work, but LHP Will Gilbert gave up the winning run in the top of the 9th to take the loss for Stockton. In other news, the Ports’ adopted stray kitten, “Clubbie,” who now calls the Stockton clubhouse home, continues to work its feline charms on Ports players…

This year’s 9th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Chase Cohen, made the start and gave up 4 runs, 3 earned, over 2 1/3 innings of work, while 24-year-old Dominican RHP Jeferson Mejia allowed 2 runs in 2 2/3 innings of relief to suffer the loss for Vermont. Right fielder Nick Osborne doubled twice and drove in 2 runs for the Lake Monsters in the loss.

19-year-old Dominican RHP Ismael Aquino turned in an impressive start on Saturday, allowing just 1 base runner, on a walk, while striking out 7 and failing to allow a hit over 5 shutout frames to earn his 2nd win for the A’s. This year’s 30th-round draft pick for the A’s, first baseman Gio Dingcong, tagged his team-leading 3rd home run, a three-run shot in the 4th, while this year’s 32nd-round pick, designated hitter John Jones, drew a walk and doubled in a pair for the A’s.
