LHP Jesus Luzardo led the Sounds to a shutout win in his Triple-A debut on Monday. The 20-year-old southpaw surrendered 8 hits, all singles, while walking none and striking out 6 over 5 shutout innings to earn the victory and help Nashville notch its eighth straight win. Luzardo threw 76 pitches, 52 for strikes. LHP Eric Jokisch tossed 4 scoreless frames in relief to complete the nine-hit shutout and secure his 1st save for the Sounds. Second baseman J.P. Sportman had 2 hits, including his first Triple-A home run, while catcher Beau Taylor doubled, drew a walk and scored a run, and first baseman Steve Lombardozzi singled twice and drove in a pair for the Sounds. In other news, the A’s sent infielder Franklin Barreto back to the Sounds, while Nashville LHP Jeremy Bleich was designated for assignment on Monday.

The Snappers had their three-game wining streak snapped on Monday. This year’s 5th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Brady Feigl, made the start and allowed 2 runs in 2 innings of work to take the loss in his Midwest League debut. But LHP Jared Poche was solid in relief, allowing 1 run on just 3 hits while striking out 6 over 6 innings for Beloit. Third baseman Jesus Lage doubled in a run, while second baseman Ryan Gridley singled and scored twice for the Snappers.

20-year-old Dominican RHP Jose Mora struggled early, surrendering 5 runs, 4 earned, and exited with just one out in the bottom of the 1st inning to take the loss as the Lake Monsters had their four-game winning streak snapped on Monday. This year’s third overall draft pick for the A’s, designated hitter Jeremy Eierman, had 2 hits, including a double, while this year’s 8th-round pick, catcher JJ Schwarz, singled twice, and 23rd-round third baseman Jonah Bride drew a walk and singled in a run for the Lake Monsters in the loss.

The AZL A’s lost in extra innings to see their four-game winning streak come to an end on Monday. 19-year-old Dominican RHP Ismael Aquino made the start and allowed 3 runs in 2 2/3 innings of work. The game was tied heading into the top of the 10th when infielder Christopher Quintin was brought on to pitch. Quintin surrendered 6 runs, 5 earned, in the frame to take the loss. This year’s 32nd-round draft pick for the A’s, catcher John Jones, singled twice, walked twice and drove in 2 runs in the loss.
