First baseman Steve Lombardozzi helped the Sounds snap their four-game losing streak on Sunday. With the bases loaded, two outs and his team down by two runs in the top of the 7th inning, Lombardozzi lined a single to center field that drove in two runs. And when Lombardozzi then tried to take second, an errant throw allowed center fielder Ramon Laureano to score before Lombardozzi also scampered home for the Sounds. Lombardozzi also singled and scored a run in the 4th inning and singled in another run and stole a base in the 9th. Laureano singled twice, drew a walk, stole a base and scored twice, while shortstop Jorge Mateo collected his league-leading 13th triple, and third baseman Sheldon Neuse notched a two-run single to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. Starter Chris Bassitt allowed 3 runs over 5 frames, while LHP Dean Kiekhefer picked up his 7th win despite giving up 2 runs in 2 innings of relief for the Sounds. And with Chad Pinder landing on the disabled list for Oakland, the A’s recalled Nashville infielder Franklin Barreto on Sunday.

The RockHounds lost their second straight to split their four-game series with Corpus Christi on Sunday. RHP Ben Bracewell turned in a solid start, allowing 4 runs, just 3 earned, and striking out 9 while throwing an 8-inning complete game, but he still ended up suffering his 7th loss for Midland. Designated hitter Luis Barrera drew a walk and tripled in a run, while center fielder Skye Bolt singled in a run, and third baseman Nate Mondou doubled and scored a run for the RockHounds.

Stockton was shut out on just four hits to suffer its sixth loss in its last seven games on Sunday. Starter Kyle Friedrichs allowed 3 runs over 6 1/3 innings of work to take the loss, while left fielder Greg Deichmann notched an assist by throwing out a runner at home plate and doubled to provide the Ports with their only extra-base hit in the loss.

The Snappers suffered their fifth loss in their last seven games on Sunday. Starter Jean Ruiz allowed 3 runs over 5 2/3 frames to take the loss. Designated hitter Logan Farrar singled, walked and launched a two-run homer, and he now leads the team with 11th round-trippers on the season. First baseman Hunter Hargrove singled, doubled and scored twice, while left fielder Lazaro Armenteros tripled, and right fielder Jack Meggs doubled in a run for the Snappers in the loss.

Vermont was victorious for the third time in its last four games on Sunday. 21-year-old Dominican RHP Rafael Kelly turned in an outstanding start, striking out 6 while throwing 5 shutout innings to earn his 3rd win, while last year’s 31st-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Brandon Withers, pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings in relief to post his 3rd save for the Lake Monsters. 22-year-old Panamanian catcher Robert Mullen hit a three-run homer, while this year’s 20th-round pick, shortstop Max Schuemann, had 2 hits, stole 2 bases and drove in a run, and 17th-round center fielder Devin Foyle singled twice, walked, stole a base and scored twice fo the Lake Monsters.

The AZL A’s suffered their third loss in their last four games on Sunday. 20-year-old Dominican RHP Richard Morban had his fourth straight strong start, allowing 2 runs on just 2 hits while striking out 5 over 5 2/3 frames, but he still ended up being saddled with the loss. First baseman Miguel Mercedes drew a walk and doubled in a run, while this year’s 6th-round draft pick for the A’s, left fielder Lawrence Butler, and this year’s 34th-round pick, second baseman Nick Ward, both singled, walked and drove in runs in the loss.
